American Psycho (2000) the incredibly successful movie which was based on the Bret Easton Ellis novel, could be set to have a remake soon if Noble Jones get his way. Jones pitched the idea to Lionsgate who hold the rights to any remake of the film, and as soon as news hit the trackers the rumour mill went into full effect.
Jones is a Grammy nominated director made famous for his documentary 10 Days Out: Blues From the Backroads (2007)
The idea behind the remake is to set the main character Patrick Bateman in todays modern New York and see how our favourite lovable yuppie serial killer would deal in a New York that has changed a lot since 2000. Over the past few months there have been some huge protests in New York with Occupy Wall Street, and it would be interesting to see what Patrick would make of it.
To be honest, I really don’t want this to be made, but that’s just a personal opinion. I like the concept that Jones has, but the reason I don’t want a remake is mainly down to the fact that American Psycho was a cult classic and perfectly played by Christian Bale. Remaking the film would only serve to ruin the original, and is shows just how desperate Hollywood are at the moment as most of the main films from 2011 weren’t that great, with a few exceptions.
…..however, it’s still only a rumour, and yet to be green lit.
