A huge fight broke out in the Ukrainian Parliament yesterday that caused many MP’s to require hospital treatment.
The fight broke out during the Tymoshenko inquiry, which was looking into corruption charges involving former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko. The main podium at the front was initially blocked off, until MP’s loyal to the former president charged forward and attacked the opposition.
Yulia Tymoshenko, who left office in 2010 was accused of misappropriating public finds, in particular the selling of carbon emission rights under the Kyoto protocol. After losing the election in 2010, Tymoshenko claimed the election was rigged. She was subsequently sentenced to seven years in prison for allegedly abusing her position while brokering a 2009 gas deal with Russia.
