Sony have unveiled 2 new slimmed down Playstation 3 models at the Tokyo Game Show conference, but I wouldn’t get over excited regarding improved specs. The main difference here is in the size of the unit made possible by a redesign of the internal architecture allowing for a 25% reduction in size and 20% reduction in weight. The slot loader for disks has also been replaced by a tray loader instead. Overall the unit measurements are :
- 2.4″ tall
- 9.1″ long
- 4.6lb in weight
The two models that they announced are a 250GB and 500GB slimmed down versions of the current PS3′s. The first of which you will be able to purchase on September 25th for $269 and will come bundled with Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, Game of the Year Edition, and a $30 voucher for bonus digital content for the first-person shooter game Dust 514.
The 500GB limited edition version will be available to buy on October 30th at a slightly higher cost of $299 and will come bundled with a copy of Assassin’s Creed III.
