Kickass Torrents Goes Down After Expired Domain Issue

[Update 21-03-13] Kickass Torrents is now being blocked by UK ISP’s, but there are simple work arounds.

Kickass Torrents, who are the second biggest torrent indexing site on the web, have gone down due to an expired domain registration.

TorrentFreak checked the Whois database for Kickass Torrents to see that the domain had expired on January 12 2013, which would explain the issue.

They have reached out to the KaT admins, but have yet to hear back. Currently when trying to access the site users will be greeted with the error message ’502: Bad Gateway’.

Some users have had some luck accessing the site via the Come.in proxy operated by TorrentReactor.

[Update 1] People are still able to access the site via the older domain of katproxy.com (recommended)

[Update 2] Kickass Torrents is now back and kicking ass again. Via their blog:

Last weekend we had a really surprising issue with our domain, but we were able to restore kat.ph as fast as possible. Right now the domain name is secured and we are once again working on our great upcoming features.
