The Amazing Spider-man 2 Storyline Has Been Revealed

The Amazing Spider Man Movie 2

[Mild Spoilers below]

Columbia Pictures have officially announced the storyline for The Amazing Spider-man 2 which is set for a May 2nd 2014 release. Note that the title hasn’t been confirmed and may change later.

Marc Webb’s first outing at doing a Spider-man film was met with varied reviews and wasn’t the big hit with the fans that the studios were probably looking for, but saying that it did well at the box office (taking over $752 million) which is why Webb is getting another crack at a Spider-man movie.  However, unlike Mark Webb’s last Spider-man film, it won’t be shot in 3D but will instead be shot using 35mm film as opposed to the digital RED Epic 3D cameras used in the previous film. It isn’t clear if the entire film will be shot in 35mm. Below is a tweet sent from Webb via Twitter from the first day of shooting (yesterday)

Webb has also posted an image of one of the props that will be used in the film, which is a piece of tech made by Oscorp Industries

Jamie Foxx who has been confirmed as playing the role of  Electro was asked in an interview with MTV about the costume design for his character Electro, in which he replied:

“It won’t be green and yellow. It will be a different color. They (the producers) want something for the future. They want to have it more grounded and not as comic bookie, so it won’t be green and yellow. They want to try new things, like a liquid rubber and things like that, and there are all these bolts and stuff in my arms when they are hanging me upside down and trying to figure out what [happens]. How did he become this way? So, it will be some new stuff.”

He then went on to say more about Electro’s origins in The Amazing Spider-man 2:

“What you’ll see is that, for his whole life, no one is talking to him. People have stolen his ideas at the big company. He’s a nobody. At a certain point, Spider-Man bumps into him and says, ‘You’re my guy. You’re my ears and eyes on the street.’ Then he says his name, [Max] and no one has ever said [Max] Dillon’s name. He goes, ‘Wow’ and, when Spider-Man leaves, he sort of thinks that, “I am Spider-Man’s partner!” He’s cutting out Spider-Man’s face and pasting it on all his boards… Everything goes bad with his mom. She doesn’t remember his birthday. He has something tragic happen and, when it turns on, he lights it up.”

Electro (Maxwell “Max” Dillon) was first introduced to the Spider-verse on 9th February 1964. He gained his powers whilst working on a powerline, when a freak lightning accident caused a mutagenic change that transformed him into a living electrical capacitor. There is a pretty detailed biography for Electro’s character here.
